  • Contributing to the development and review of software requirements documentation
  • Creating and owning technical test plans and associated test documentation
  • Supporting system integration testing and providing practical debugging capability during development
  • Bench testing and validating software functionality and safety requirements
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers and partners to handle technical queries and resolve issues
  • Working closely with other disciplines (electronics hardware, controls software, systems) to deliver production-ready solutions
  • Mentoring and guiding junior engineers; contributing to estimates and planning for new projects

Requirements

  • Relevant industry experience in an OEM or Tier 1 environment (production and/or R&D programmes)
  • Strong experience in embedded firmware testing (software deployed onto, and interfacing with, bespoke hardware)
  • Experience supporting systems engineering processes and embedded software test
  • Significant experience developing scripting languages for test systems (e.g. Python or similar)
  • Experience testing functional safety compliant software (ISO 26262)
  • Strong documentation experience (requirements specs, test specifications, technical reports, manuals, work instructions)
  • Practical bench testing and validation experience
  • Automotive comms/diagnostics protocols such as CAN / CAN-FD / FlexRay / UDS / OBD / J1939
  • Comfortable dealing with external stakeholders (customers/suppliers) to resolve technical issues
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a Science-related discipline

Nice to have

  • Model-based development exposure (UML / SysML; Simulink / TargetLink)
  • Low-level software testing for xEV components (BMS, inverter, DC/DC converters, OBC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and calibration tools
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE
  • Control systems knowledge / practical control theory understanding

Personal attributes

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and collaborative
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving ability
  • Able to prioritise and organise workload effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
