Job description

We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our Managed Services team. Working remotely, you will provide technical consultancy and operational support to a range of customers. You will be responsible for resolving incidents, delivering pro-active maintenance and supporting customer projects. Participation in an on-call rota is required.

Requirements

This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with customers and developing their expertise across Oracle technologies and cloud platforms. Your Experience:

  • We are looking for someone who has demonstrated significant experience as follows:
  • Strong core DBA skills including installation, configuration, performance tuning, RAC,Data Guard and RMAN.
  • Demonstrable experience in database upgrades and related technologies.
  • Experience with other Oracle technologies, e.g. Weblogic, ASM, Exadata.
  • Experience with OCI, AWS or other cloud vendors.
  • Previous experience of working within a support services environment, underpinned by ITIL-based working practices. The candidate would ideally be certified at Foundation level for ITIL, but training to achieve this will be provided if required.

Skills:

  • Install, upgrade, patch, clone and maintain all aspects of Oracle Databases.
  • Oracle RDBMS 10g - 19c and associated tools.
  • This is a client-facing role and requires the ability to build and maintain good relationships with a wide variety of customers.
  • Ability to handle the pressures of delivering Oracle support in a services business, an ability to multitask and an ability to work with and for multiple clients on a daily basis.
  • Proficient O/S skills (Linux/Unix/Windows).
  • Strong Shell Scripting and SQL skills.
  • Excellent all-round computer systems competence, including Microsoft Office, to support the consultant's day-to-day activities.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work with and knowledge share within a team and create technical documentation as appropriate.

Location and Special Requirements:

  • Home based with occasional travel to a customer or DSP office (London, Leeds, or Derby) as and when required.
  • Due to customer requirements, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC).
