Job description
Astrid is seeking an experienced Senior UI / Gameplay Systems Engineer to join our small and thoughtful team as we push the boundaries in gaming and IP, offering fans new meaningful worlds and experiences., * Build and design player-facing menus, UI, and HUD systems using C++ and Blueprint
- Design intuitive interfaces using UMG and CommonUI
- Integrate with existing gameplay systems, and develop new gameplay systems for an open-world simulation game
- Share knowledge, mentor, and support colleagues in your area of expertise
- Champion engineering quality
- Partner with engineers, designers and artists to deliver excellent player-facing features
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong focus on UI and gameplay systems, having built player-facing features within Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprint and C++, and with extensive experience building UIs in UMG - ideally with CommonUI. You are comfortable working within and extending established gameplay architectures, and you care about delivering intuitive experiences that support core game flows and gameplay systems., * You are passionate about games and what they mean for our players

- You have a continuous improvement mindset, * Proven experience developing UI and gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5.
- Strong understanding of UMG.
- Working knowledge of CommonUI, CommonInput, Enhanced Input, and how the systems interact.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Solid knowledge of C++
- Experience identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks in UI and gameplay systems, * Knowledge of Slate
- Experience developing systemic games (emergent mechanics, interlocking systems, simulation-driven worlds, sandbox or co-op titles)
- Experience in social, frontend, and gameplay-adjacent areas of game development
- Familiarity with developing games for multiple platforms
