Job description

This is a hands-on senior role responsible for maintaining and improving the organisation's IT environment, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and aligned with operational and commercial objectives. Supporting approximately 120 users across engineering, manufacturing, finance and commercial teams, you will act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure matters and play a key role in delivering IT improvements and projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Group IT infrastructure across all UK sites including servers, endpoints, networking and cloud environments.
  • Ensure high levels of system availability, performance and resilience.
  • Lead cybersecurity measures including MFA, endpoint protection, patch management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Maintain and test backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support and act as the main escalation point for infrastructure issues.
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune and Exchange Online.
  • Maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Oversee network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs and Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Support and optimise ERP/MRP systems and related manufacturing integrations.
  • Manage third-party IT providers, licensing and hardware procurement.
  • Lead and deliver IT projects such as migrations, network refreshes and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation including asset registers, network diagrams and policies.
  • Support and train users while promoting structured ticketing and digital best practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in hands-on IT infrastructure roles
  • At least 2 years in a senior or lead IT capacity
  • Strong experience with Windows 10/11 environments
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Azure AD
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi)
  • Experience with endpoint security, patching and remote support tools
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites

Desirable

  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Experience with Cyber Essentials Plus or ISO 27001 frameworks
  • Backup and virtualisation platforms such as Veeam, VMware or Hyper-V
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP Business One, Epicor, Infor or Sage)
  • Experience delivering IT infrastructure projects

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a proactive and hands-on IT professional who takes ownership of infrastructure performance, continuously improves system resilience and cybersecurity, and communicates technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation where you can play a key role in developing and strengthening the IT environment.
