Job description

A client of Insight Global is looking for TS/SCI CI Poly Software Engineer to sit in Aberdeen, MD at minimum one day a week to support a large federal client. In this role, you will develop and maintain software applications that support RF measurement, satellite communications, and signal processing initiatives. You'll spend your time building intuitive user interfaces, interactive dashboards, and geospatial mapping tools that help engineers visualize RF coverage, EIRP, and measurement data. Working closely with RF and DSP engineers, you'll integrate signal processing outputs into operational applications, develop APIs and data processing workflows, and support the ingestion and visualization of large datasets. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting software issues, participating in system testing and deployment efforts, contributing to software architecture and design reviews, and helping deliver scalable, user-focused solutions for mission-critical systems., * Develop user interfaces for RF measurement and EIRP visualization tools.

  • Build interactive geospatial displays and coverage map applications.
  • Integrate DSP-generated outputs into operational software systems.
  • Develop and maintain APIs and backend services supporting RF data workflows.
  • Create dashboards and data visualization tools for engineering and mission users.
  • Work closely with RF and DSP engineers to translate technical requirements into software solutions.
  • Support software testing, debugging, deployment, and system performance optimization.
  • Contribute to software architecture, technical design discussions, and code reviews.
  • Process and visualize large RF, telemetry, and measurement datasets.
  • Support field testing activities and operational data collection efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • TSSCI CI Poly
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Strong experience with C++ and Python development.
  • Hands-on experience building applications in Linux environments.
  • Experience developing both desktop and web-based applications.
  • Ability to translate RF and measurement data into user-friendly, intuitive interfaces.
  • Experience working with geospatial and mapping applications.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting SATCOM, SIGINT, EW, or telecommunications systems
  • Software development experience with desktop and web-based applications
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture, APIs, and scalable software development
  • Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR) and real-time data processing
  • Ability to develop interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and user-friendly engineering applications
  • Experience working with large datasets, including ingestion, processing, and near real-time visualization
  • Familiarity with RF concepts such as antenna gain, propagation, link budgets, and spectrum analysis
  • Understanding of DSP fundamentals including FFTs, filtering, sampling theory, and signal-to-noise ratios
  • Experience working with IQ data, spectrum data, and measurement datasets
  • Geospatial application development experience, including GIS mapping, coverage visualization, and terrain data
  • Experience with modern web technologies such as React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQLite, and time-series databases
  • Experience with Linux environments, command-line tools, and debugging
  • Knowledge of Git, Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and automated testing
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with RF engineers, DSP engineers, and cross-functional technical teams
  • Experience supporting field testing and engineering data collection activities
  • Understanding of satellite communications architecture, including ground terminals and uplink/downlink operations

Benefits & conditions

$50/hr to $70/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
