Job description
Insight Global is seeking a Software Configuration Management (SCM) Analyst to support the development, release, and sustainment of mission-critical software systems in a secure DoD environment. This individual will play a key role in software configuration management, release engineering, CI/CD implementation, and process automation efforts supporting complex software programs.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing software baselines, release candidates, engineering builds, and production deployments while working closely with software developers to ensure dependencies, version control processes, and CI/CD pipelines are properly implemented. This individual must be comfortable challenging development teams, enforcing configuration management standards, and maintaining a high level of scrutiny over software releases that directly impact customer operations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Manage software configuration management and release engineering activities across the software development lifecycle
Review and approve software builds, release candidates, beta releases, and production deployments prior to fielding
Analyze software dependencies, version control structures, and build configurations to ensure deployment readiness
Maintain software baselines, change records, release documentation, and configuration management artifacts
Develop and improve automation processes supporting software builds, releases, and CI/CD pipelines
Support and validate build and deployment workflows utilizing tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira, and Nexus
Partner closely with software developers to ensure adherence to GitFlow branching strategies and configuration management standards
Facilitate Change Control Board (CCB) activities including meeting coordination, documentation, action tracking, and release approval processes
Review software documentation and engineering artifacts to verify compliance with CM requirements and quality standards
Ensure software releases meet established program requirements before deployment to operational environments
Support implementation of CI/CD best practices, code quality standards, automated testing integration, and release governance processes
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase release reliability, automation, and deployment efficiency
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 2-9+ years of Software Configuration Management (SCM), Configuration Management, Release Engineering, DevOps, Build Engineering, Software Quality, or related experience
- Experience supporting software builds, release management, and software delivery processes
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Hands-on experience with:
Bitbucket
Jira
Jenkins
Nexus
- Understanding of GitFlow branching strategies and version control best practices
- Experience reviewing software dependencies, build processes, and deployment pipelines
- Experience supporting CI/CD environments and release automation efforts
- Experience coordinating software releases and maintaining configuration baselines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with developers and enforce software quality and release standards
- Ability to understand software development workflows and identify potential risks prior to deployment - Experience working with GitFlow methodologies
- Experience with ClearCase
- Experience developing automation tools through scripting or programming
- Experience supporting Docker containerized environments
- Experience working within Agile software development teams
- Knowledge of software quality, automated testing, code coverage, and CI/CD best practices
- Experience administering or supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
Benefits & conditions
Pay Range: ~$90,000-$168,000 annually. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefits eligibility on day one of employment - Package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching (vesting period applies). Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable state law.
