Software Engineer

The Full Stack Developer will assist in planning, developing, testing, andimplementing new software solutions. The Full Stack Developer will work with thesoftware development team and leads to ensure all software development tasks andprojects are completed on time and to SimplyDS's business and technicalspecifications.

SimplyDS is a modern platform for dental practices - unifying patientcommunication, scheduling, forms, payments, and phone workflows, and keeping allof it in sync with the systems those offices already run. We are a small,fast-moving, fully remote team building HIPAA- and PCI-conscious software thatreal dental practices depend on every day.

We move fast, automate aggressively, and expect every engineer to use AI as aforce multiplier. You will work across our web frontend, backend services, andmobile app.

Essential Functions

• Assist in managing parts of the software development process and parts of thesoftware development team.
• Understand and develop advanced web software applications on both the frontend(React/TypeScript) and backend (Node/TypeScript).
• Execute software, web, and AI-enabled development projects in accordance withestablished requirements, specifications, and timelines.
• Use AI tooling every day - for coding, testing, research, and automation -and continuously push the boundary of what AI can do for our team and ourproduct.
• Innovate constantly. Proactively find more efficient ways to build, ship,and operate; automate repetitive work; and turn "this is slow/manual/painful"into a better solution rather than living with it.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and keepdocumentation current with every behavior change.
• Keep work visible and honest in our shared task tracker - log real effort, keepstatuses in sync with reality, and log bugs before fixing them.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging technology and best practices in web,application design, AI-assisted development, and software delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned., * AI-first. We expect engineers to lean on AI heavily and to keep raising thebar on how we use it - the best candidates will teach us new tricks.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Technical proficiency (required)

• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proficiency in React.js.
• Strong backend experience building and consuming REST APIs with a modern Nodeframework.
• Extensive experience testing JavaScript/TypeScript code on the frontendand/or backend using Jest.
• Fluency with markup and programming languages, including HTML, JavaScript,and CSS/Sass.
• Experience with a production database (document or relational - MongoDBand/or PostgreSQL).
• Comfort reasoning about authentication and authorization flows.

Technical proficiency (nice to have)

• End-to-end testing with Playwright.
• React Native / Expo for mobile.
• Experience with OIDC/JWT identity providers.
• Message queues / event-driven systems and WebSocket realtime.
• Feature-flag-driven development and error monitoring.
• Experience shipping AI-powered features or building automation/agent tooling.
• Familiarity with cloud hosting and healthcare compliance concepts (HIPAA/PCI)is a plus.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experiencepreferred.
