Job description

DUTIES: Provide technical leadership within a team responsible for developing and supporting optimization and forecasting solutions for software used for inventory management, planning, and campaign delivery; administer databases including MySQL, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB; deploy, configure, and manage AWS cloud services including EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, Route 53, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch; model data, design schemas, manage data structures across systems, and select data types, including JSON, UUID and BLOB; implement automated backup and restore strategies, snapshot management, and recovery plans; optimize SQL and NoSQL queries, manage indexing, and scale architectures for performance and stability using Percona Toolkit; use Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and PromQL scripting language to build and optimize dashboards and alerts; develop automation services and scripts using Python, Go, Shell, GitHub, and VSS; manage permissions, encrypt sensitive data, and configure IAM policies, Secrets Manager, and VPC security groups using AWS and Terraform; perform version control and CI/CD using GitHub; deploy databases in containers using Kubernetes and Docker; perform all aspects of database administration including: hardware and software evaluation and installation, logical and physical database design and implementation, structured testing of database designs, security administration, backup and recovery planning, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards and procedures; implement and support development systems, QA systems, and production systems at data centers ; maintain capacity planning ; develop and implement complex data models and logical database designs; oversee the design/tune and maintain and support database systems for highly available, high-volume internet applications; provide recommendations on database technologies and features; work with the network and security teams to ensure database adherence to security standards; and guide and mentor junior-level team members. Position is eligible to work remotely one or more days per week, per company policy.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, any Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience administering databases including MySQL; implementing automated backup and restore strategies, snapshot management, and recovery plans; optimizing SQL and NoSQL queries, managing indexing, and scaling architectures for performance and stability using Percona Toolkit; using Prometheus, Grafana, and PromQL scripting language to build and optimize dashboards and alerts; developing automation services and scripts using Python and Shell; of which three (3) years include administering databases including DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB; deploying, configuring, and managing AWS cloud services including EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, Route 53, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch; modeling data, designing schemas, managing data structures across systems, and selecting data types, including JSON, UUID and BLOB; developing automation services and scripts using Go, GitHub, and VSS; managing permissions, encrypting sensitive data, and configuring IAM policies, Secrets Manager, and VPC security groups using AWS and Terraform; of which one (1) year includes performing version control and CI/CD using GitHub; and deploying databases in containers using Kubernetes and Docker
