Job description

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Cisco/Meraki/Aruba/Juniper/Palo Alto Networks/Fortinet/Barracuda Networks network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Help monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues
  • Participate in network upgrades, expansions, and hardware refreshes
  • Support VLANs, subnetting, OSPF, EIGRP, and static routing configurations
  • Work on firewall rule changes and basic security hardening tasks
  • Assist with wireless network support (controllers, access points)
  • Document network configurations, diagrams, and procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotation (after training period)
  • Collaborate with Systems and Cybersecurity teams.

Requirements

KIS is an IT MSP actively growing in the MSSP market to provide additional services to our clients. We are looking for a motivated Junior Network Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience with enterprise networks, strong mentorship, and a clear path to grow into a senior network role., * 1-3 years of professional networking experience (internships count)

  • Completed or actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, OSI model, and Ethernet fundamentals
  • Basic familiarity with CLI configuration of network devices (Cisco IOS / IOS-XE /NX-OS strongly preferred)
  • Exposure to any of the following (even academic/lab experience is valuable):
  • VLANs, trunking, STP
  • Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, static)
  • NAT, ACLs
  • Basic Wireshark / packet capture analysis
  • IP addressing & subnetting
  • Experience with basic Firewall setup

Strongly preferred (any of this helps you stand out):

  • CCNA certification (or CCNA-level knowledge)
  • Hands-on lab experience (GNS3, Packet Tracer, EVE-NG, real hardware)
  • Basic Linux / Windows server networking knowledge
  • Understanding of VPNs (IPsec, GlobalProtect, AnyConnect, Netxtender)
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, LogicMonitor, etc.), * Network engineering: 1 year (Required)
