Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic and structured cabling infrastructure within data center environments. This role is responsible for fiber termination, cable management, infrastructure installations, rack and stack activities, equipment installation, and testing using Fluke and OTDR equipment. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in data center environments, understands fiber color codes and industry standards, and is committed to maintaining a safe and professional work environment. Candidates must be willing to travel and work overtime, including weekends, as required., * Install, route, and rough-in fiber optic and structured cabling infrastructure.

  • Perform cable management, including dressing, labeling, and organization of cabling.
  • Terminate fiber optic and copper cabling according to industry standards.
  • Install and configure Single Mode and Multi-Mode fiber, including ST, LC, SC, SC-APC, and other connector types.
  • Perform fiber testing using Fluke testers and OTDR equipment.
  • Troubleshoot fiber optic connectivity and infrastructure issues.
  • Rack, stack, and install customer equipment and server hardware.
  • Build server racks and complete rack elevations.
  • Install fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure components.
  • Complete infrastructure installations, including cable management systems, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power tray systems.
  • Receive materials and assemble hardware as required.
  • Perform Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations into data center environments.
  • Read, interpret, and execute work according to blueprints and installation drawings.
  • Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, PPE requirements, and job site safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout all phases of installation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Data Center Technician experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on fiber optic installation and termination experience.
  • Experience performing fiber terminations, understanding fiber color codes, and structured cabling standards.
  • Experience using Fluke testers and OTDR equipment for fiber testing and certification.
  • Comfortable performing labeling, patching, and cable management tasks.
  • Experience working at heights using ladders and scissor lifts.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and installation documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
  • Proficient with basic hand tools, including:
  • Multi-bit screwdriver, * High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a data center environment.
