Job description

The System Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the organization's cloud infrastructure. This role focuses comprehensively on the Microsoft cloud ecosystem, encompassing Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), identity management, security compliance, and modern workspace technologies. The System Engineer leverages automation and modern DevOps best practices to ensure a secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environment, serving as the primary engineering resource for cloud initiatives with minimal supervision., * Create technical solutions that meet critical business needs through design, testing, recommendation and implementation of technology.

  • Design, provision, and maintain Azure core services, including virtual machines, virtual networking, express routes, storage solutions, and PaaS offerings.
  • Implement and monitor cloud security posture management (CSPM) using Zero-Trust frameworks, while managing Microsoft Purview for data governance and compliance.
  • Support the evaluation, deployment, and integration of modern AI solutions and Microsoft Copilot features within the enterprise environment.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft Intune for comprehensive endpoint configuration, mobile device management, and application deployments.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring secure access control, conditional access policies, and enterprise-wide identity governance.
  • Oversee, configure, and regularly test cloud-based Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions to ensure organizational resilience.
  • Utilize PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Power Automate to streamline administrative tasks. Apply foundational DevOps best practices, including basic Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and pipeline management, to deploy cloud resources efficiently.
  • Create business justifications for technical solutions that detail the business value, cost of solution, and return on the investment.
  • A full understanding of integrating, testing, evaluating and modifying systems is required. A systems engineer should be able to see the process through from beginning to end.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex cloud infrastructure issues, collaborating with vendors and internal teams to resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Deep Knowledge Of: Microsoft Azure architecture (IaaS & PaaS), Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Purview, cloud security frameworks, and disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts (CI/CD, Git, Infrastructure as Code), automated scripting (PowerShell, CLI), and enterprise SaaS management.
  • Ability to autonomously architect cloud solutions based on business requirements; troubleshoot intricate networking and cloud-delivery issues; articulate technical strategies to non-technical business leaders.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively and proactively both in a team as well as independently.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of systems engineering or IT infrastructure experience
  • 3 years focused heavily on managing production workloads within Microsoft Azure and the M365 ecosystem.
