Job description
This role is for a Microsoft Server & Azure IaaS Administrator responsible for managing and supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, IIS, and Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service resources. The administrator will ensure high availability, security, automation, and compliance across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures in a fully remote setting. Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain Windows Server (2016 2025) including roles such as AD DS, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and File Services.
- Manage IIS websites and applications, including application pools, SSL/TLS certificates, URL Rewrite, and security hardening.
- Administer Azure IaaS components such as VMs, VM Scale Sets, storage, VNETs, Load Balancers, Bastion, backups, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
- Maintain Active Directory health, replication, OU structure, users, groups, service accounts, and troubleshoot authentication issues.
- Design, implement, and maintain Group Policy Objects for security baselines and compliance.
- Monitor system performance and security using native tools and Azure Monitor; proactively troubleshoot issues.
- Apply security best practices including CIS/Microsoft baselines, vulnerability remediation, endpoint hardening, and audit support.
- Develop PowerShell scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code templates (Bicep, ARM, Terraform) for automation and deployment.
- Document procedures, maintain runbooks, and adhere to ITIL change and incident management processes.
- Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to support deployments, certificates, and integrations.
- Lead or assist with upgrades, migrations, cloud adoption, and modernization projects.

Requirements
- Expertise in Windows Server administration (2016 and later).
- Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and IIS management.
- Proficiency managing Azure IaaS environments including VMs, networking, storage, and backup solutions.
- PowerShell scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, ARM, Terraform) skills.
- Knowledge of security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting using native Windows and Azure tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL change and incident management processes.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Windows Server certifications.
- Experience with IIS security hardening and SSL/TLS management.
- Knowledge of IRS 1075 compliance requirements.
- Experience with cloud migration and modernization projects.

Scheduling:
- Regular work hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
- Fully remote position.
