Job description

Xylem is seeking a talented Software Developer I (Java Developer) to join its growing development team. This hybrid position is ideal for a backend developer with strong expertise in Java 11/17, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL/NoSQL databases. The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Tuesday - Thursday: Onsite (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Monday & Friday: Remote

40 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications using Spring Boot.

Build and support scalable RESTful APIs.

Develop and optimize SQL Server and NoSQL database queries.

Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.

Troubleshoot application issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to best development practices.

Collaborate with business users and technical teams to resolve production issues.

Support Agile development processes including sprint planning and daily stand-ups.

Implement application security and data protection best practices.

Maintain technical documentation and support customer issues when required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

2-4 years of Java development experience.

Strong experience with Java 11 and Java 17.

Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Security.

Experience developing RESTful APIs.

Strong SQL skills with Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.

Hibernate / JPA experience.

Experience using Git for source control.

Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software design principles.

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Cloud experience.

CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, or Gradle.

Agile/Scrum development experience.

Experience with JMS, Messaging, XML, REST, and SOAP services.

J2EE and JSP experience.
