Job description

The ISSN - Information Support Services & Networking Teacher will be starting a NEW ISSN

Program. The teacher is responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive

Chapter 74 ISSN Program for high school students in grades 9 - 12.

Students who graduate from the program should leave with the knowledge of the curriculum

frameworks and technical competencies skills needed to be successful in the workplace and or in

their continued studies. In this inaugural year, the teacher will work full time, using the first, * Responsible for planning, creating and delivering curriculum objectives and competencies in accordance with the MA CTE ISSN Frameworks.

  • Ensure students have had the opportunity to master the knowledge and competency skills necessary for the workplace and beyond.

  • Establish and maintain a professional classroom/shop environment, with an emphasis on safety, mastery of knowledge and skills and a strong work ethic.

  • Meets professional teaching responsibilities per teacher contract including (but not limited to) district, school and departmental goals, monitor, assess and document student progress, and communication with colleagues, students, home, and clinical placements.

  • Advisory and 8th Grade Night.

  • Supports the Director of CTE in the continual enhancement of the ISSN program.

  • Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings (ex. Back to School night, Advisory) Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function; rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, sit, talk

and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for long

periods of time. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and or move objects weighing up to

50lbs. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. The teacher may

also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces

with exposure to dust, smoke fumes and gases.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Ten-month, school year position (183 days).

  • Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers' Contract.

Requirements

Eligible applicants must hold a Chapter 74 ISSN teaching license from the

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or be eligible to obtain such

a license.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATTIONS:

  • Associate or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
  • Four years of recent (within the last seven years), full-time employment experience directly related to ISSN - Information Support Services & Networking
  • Passing score on each test (written test, performance test) for ISSN
  • Achieve a passing score on either the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test or the Communication and Literacy Skills Test

DESIRED QUALIFICATTIONS

  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the public in creating an atmosphere where individuals feel welcome and respected.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Competency in software related to ISSN.
  • Competency in the use of computer applications and instructional technology to aid in the interactive delivery of instruction and address daily school responsibilities.
