Job description
The Systems Administrator ensures the stable operation of a wide variety of in-house information and telephony systems. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, optimizing, and documenting these systems. Troubleshoots software and performance issues in a timely and accurate fashion. Recommends hardware, software upgrades and security improvements.
In addition, the Systems Administrator evaluates and installs system patches, installs new software releases, and performs system upgrades. Serves as a technical resource in support of all Desktop Software and Hardware issues. Inventories, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots hardware and software packages. Interacts with end-users to identify current computing procedures and desktop-based LAN systems software operations and makes selection recommendations accordingly.
This position requires occasional work outside normal business hours.
Key Job Responsibilities and Activities:
Workstation Installs and Technical Support
· Provide primary support or delegate the following tasks.
· Technical support and training for Desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
· Performs departmental moves.
· Troubleshooting and problem resolution.
· Setting up and Deploying Virtual and Physical Desktops.
· Researching and purchasing Desktop hardware, peripherals & software.
· Software installations, upgrades, and security fixes.
· Adapts procedures, techniques, tools and/or equipment to meet special needs.
Telephone Systems Administration
· Systems include: RingCentral and Spectrum UC
· Performs hardware/software upgrades.
· Designs, programs, tests, and implements telephony projects.
· Provides high-level telephony support.
· Makes recommendations for feature, equipment/software purchases.
· Monitors and Troubleshoots communication problems.
· Communicates with telephony vendors to resolve problems.
· Responsible for wiring/jacks, T1 lines, and DID lines.
· Stays current on feature updates and plans for future needs
General Network and Systems Administration
· Manages accounts and maintains security for AD, O365, and Azure.
· Assists in server/network setup, maintenance and problem resolution.
· Acts as a backup when systems engineer is unavailable.
· Adding and removing users, changing permissions, etc.
· Administration and monitoring of various systems utilized for antivirus, client management, windows updates, scripting, etc.
· Monitors and remediates security related alerts and issues.
Requirements
Education: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Information Systems is required. A BA/BS degree is preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, MS Windows operating systems, Unix, SQL Server, MS .Net framework, and phone and voicemail systems required. Knowledge of RingCentral, Spectrum UC phone systems helpful. Knowledge of audio editing and duplication hardware/software helpful.
Experience: Five years of professional experience as a System Administration or related position.
