Job description

We are looking for an early-career IT As a Junior System Administrator at Freeform. In this role, you will keep the systems that power our factory, engineering teams, and business operations running every day. The work spans helpdesk support, on-premise infrastructure, endpoint management, and networking: bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and the network fabric that connects them. You will also be the first line of support for the people who depend on those systems. The ideal candidate has a "no job too big or small mentality", learns fast, treats security as a default, and wants to own more of our IT infrastructure as the company grows., * Provide day-to-day helpdesk and desktop support across Windows and Linux environments

  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premise infrastructure, including bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, and SAN storage
  • Administer and support core identity services, including Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID
  • Manage endpoints across the company using Intune, including application packaging, configuration profiles, and Group Policy (GPOs)
  • Support and troubleshoot LAN and WiFi networking, including switching, cabling, wireless access points, and connectivity issues
  • Apply a security-first mindset to all work: patching, hardening, access control, and safe handling of accounts and data
  • Set up, support, and troubleshoot AV and video conferencing systems across conference rooms and shared spaces
  • Onboard and offboard employees, including account provisioning, hardware setup, and access management
  • Maintain inventories of IT assets and licenses, covering hardware, software, and license assignments from purchase to retirement
  • Document systems, network topology, workflows, procedures, and fixes to build out and maintain the IT knowledge base
  • Work with senior IT staff on larger infrastructure projects and take on more scope over time

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in a system administration role
  • Hands-on exposure to on-premise infrastructure: bare metal servers, virtualization, SAN storage, and networking
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN and WiFi
  • Experience administering Windows systems and working familiarity with Linux
  • Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID
  • Familiarity with endpoint management (Intune, application packaging, GPOs)
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting AV and video conferencing systems

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Kubernetes (k8s)
  • Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell DSC
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Grafana and Prometheus
  • Ability to write basic scripts (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate routine tasks
  • Experience supporting Siemens Teamcenter
  • Experience working in an engineering environment, including supporting engineering applications and development tools (CAD packages, MATLAB, Visual Studio, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CMMC and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements
  • Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable
  • Strong documentation habits: tracking assets and licenses, writing runbooks and procedures, and keeping records current as systems change
  • Security-first mindset in daily operations and system administration

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work at height
  • Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends to support maintenance windows and critical operations
