IT Specialist

Southside Community School is a charter school located in South Tucson. We are a Title I school, providing services to students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. We are committed to supporting students and families in our community by offering a high-quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. We provide free breakfast, lunch, and snacks to our students, as well as free full-day preschool and kindergarten. We also offer a free after-school program until 5:00 p.m.

We are looking for someone who can support our students, teachers, and families by ensuring our technology systems operate efficiently and reliably. Hours are flexible and depend on the applicant's availability.

A person in this position will need to be:

Self-Directed - We are looking for someone who can create and follow their own work schedule, identify technology needs, and proactively solve problems without requiring constant direction.

Flexible - Technology issues often arise unexpectedly and may require immediate attention. We are looking for someone who can adapt quickly, prioritize effectively, and remain calm under pressure.

Patient - Most of our staff are educators, not technology experts. We need someone who can provide friendly, professional support while maintaining a positive attitude.

Creative - Our technology needs continue to grow. We value someone who can develop practical, cost-effective solutions while making the most of available resources.

Organized - The ideal candidate will maintain accurate records, keep technology inventory current, and ensure devices are properly tracked and managed throughout the school year.

Collaborative - We are looking for someone who communicates openly and professionally with administration, teachers, and staff, keeping school leadership informed of technology needs, ongoing projects, and potential concerns.

Job Duties Include, but Are Not Limited To:

• Maintain school technology devices, including updates, software installation, troubleshooting, and repairs for PCs, iPads, printers, Smart Screens, and other instructional technology.
• Manage and maintain the school's website. Must have a working knowledge of HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Assist the Network Administrator from Integrilogic with network infrastructure, servers, user accounts, email management, security, and periodic user audits.
• Work closely with teachers and staff to support classroom technology and instructional needs.
• Develop cost-effective and functional technology solutions to improve school operations.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all school technology devices, including assigning, tracking, collecting, and documenting equipment.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with administration regarding technology projects, equipment needs, cybersecurity concerns, repairs, and recommendations for future improvements.
• Assist with technology setup and support for school events, meetings, state testing, and professional development as needed.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on the effective use of school technology and digital resources.
• Assist with student supervision and monitoring when needed to support school operations and student safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

• Experience with IT support, although not necessarily in a school setting.
• Working knowledge of HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Ability to work with both legacy and newer technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, administration, students, and outside technology vendors.

Pay: From $15.45 per hour
