Data Scientist

Insight Global is seeking a Top Secret cleared Data Scientist to support the development and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions for mission-critical programs fully onsite in Ft. Meade, MD. This individual will play a key role throughout the full data science lifecycle, from identifying mission needs and preparing data to developing, training, evaluating, and operationalizing models. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in statistics, machine learning, and data science, along with practical experience applying AI solutions in production environments. This person will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to design scalable, secure, and impactful solutions that support real-world mission objectives. Success in this role requires both technical depth and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable outcomes for stakeholders and end users.

Responsibilities

• Identify mission challenges and translate them into AI/ML solutions and measurable objectives
• Gather, analyze, and prepare structured and unstructured datasets for model development
• Design feature engineering approaches and data preparation strategies to improve model performance
• Develop, train, test, and optimize machine learning and generative AI models
• Build and evaluate AI solutions using modern modeling, prompting, and fine-tuning techniques
• Establish validation frameworks and performance metrics to measure model effectiveness and reliability
• Collaborate with software, data, and platform engineering teams to deploy solutions into operational environments
• Monitor models in production, identify performance issues, and implement improvements as needed
• Document methodologies, findings, and technical approaches to support transparency and repeatability
• Participate in customer engagements, testing activities, troubleshooting efforts, and continuous model enhancement initiatives
• Ensure AI solutions align with security, compliance, and mission requirements throughout development and deployment

• Active Top-Secret Clearance with ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning and generative AI solutions
• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, retrieval-based AI systems, and model tuning
• Understanding of machine learning operations (MLOps) and processes for managing models throughout their lifecycle
• Experience with model training, evaluation, monitoring, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with cloud, high-performance computing, or GPU-enabled environments supporting AI workloads
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data across modern data platforms and databases
• Knowledge of AI governance, model validation, performance monitoring, and responsible AI practices
• Background supporting intelligence, defense, cybersecurity, or other national security programs
• Ability to work directly with end users and stakeholders to implement, test, and improve AI capabilities

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Active TS/SCI or Polygraph
• Experience supporting NLP, computer vision, cyber analytics, or advanced AI applications
• Experience within defense, intelligence, cyber, or national security environments
• Previous military experience within intelligence, cyber, communications, or technical operations communities
• Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical solutions
