Job description
- Install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot Cat5e and Cat6 data cabling
- Install and organize patch panels, network racks, wall plates, keystone jacks, and related equipment
- Route and properly support cabling above ceilings and through commercial buildings
- Assist with the installation of wireless access points, switches, firewalls, cameras, and access-control equipment
- Set up and deploy desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and other business technology
- Troubleshoot basic Windows, hardware, software, printer, and network connectivity problems
- Assist users with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and other common business applications
- Perform onsite and remote technical support for clients
- Document completed work, equipment information, troubleshooting steps, and time entries
- Escalate more advanced issues to senior technicians when appropriate
- Communicate professionally with clients and coworkers throughout each assignment, * Take pride in doing clean, professional work
- Treat clients and their property with respect
- Arrive on time and communicate clearly
- Be willing to research unfamiliar problems
- Accept coaching and apply feedback
- Pay attention to labeling, documentation, and installation standards

Requirements
Vandalay Technology Services is seeking a motivated Junior IT Support & Cabling Technician to join our growing managed IT services team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This position is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience installing structured data cabling and wants to expand their career into IT support, networking, Microsoft 365, cybersecurity, and business technology., * At least one year of experience installing or servicing structured data cabling
- Experience terminating and testing Cat5e or Cat6 cable
- Basic understanding of computers, networks, and common business technology
- Familiarity with Windows computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to use basic hand tools, cable testers, punch-down tools, and termination equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication
- Dependable, organized, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for assistance
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to client locations throughout the DFW area
- Ability to pass any required background screening
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is helpful but not required:
- Previous help desk, desktop support, or field-service experience
- Microsoft 365 and Outlook support
- Basic TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting
- Installation of network switches, wireless access points, firewalls, cameras, or access-control systems
- Experience working for an IT service provider or managed service provider
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar technical certifications
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
- Ability to work from ladders and in ceiling spaces when necessary
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work in commercial installation environments
- Willingness to perform a combination of onsite installation work and office or remote technical support
- Occasional after-hours or weekend project work may be required with advance notice
