Job description
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of complex, high-end residential A/V and automation projects, using DTools, CAD, Visio, Procore, Notion, etc.
- Collaborate with top architects, designers, builders, and owners' reps to integrate smart technology seamlessly into the design vision.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and communication with precision and professionalism.
- Mentor and elevate team performance, promoting consistent quality across departments.
- Define, document, and enforce operational and technical standards that align with company excellence.
Design & Technical Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed AV, lighting, and control system designs using industry-standard CAD platforms.
- Validate design concepts with a focus on solid functionality, longevity, and scalability.
- Generate complete documentation sets - layouts, schematics, elevations, and wire schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors, architects, and engineers to confirm power, heat loads, ventilation needs and mounting specifics.
- Conduct 3D and acoustic modeling, clash detection, and renderings for client presentations.
- Support system startup, commissioning, and technical validation both on-site and remotely.
- Provide technical support through client handover and initial usage phase (first 30 days). Create with technicians onsite client manuals and videos.
Requirements
- The position will be a Hybrid/Remote/Onsite depending on the project.
- Proven experience as a Smart Home Designer and Project Leader at a residential integration firm.
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on A/V and automation experience (lighting, shading, audio, video, networking).
- Deep proficiency with Crestron, Lutron as our first choice and other control systems. Proficiency with other gear such as Unifi, Meraki, Biamp, QSys helpful.
- Exceptional communication skills and client-facing professionalism, ideally within luxury or ultra-high-end environments.
- A process-minded leader who brings structure, technical rigor, and creative problem-solving to fast-paced environments.
- Strong technical literacy - ability to read, design, and troubleshoot detailed drawings and systems.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with outstanding documentation skills. Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Collaborative and composed under pressure, with a "find-a-way" approach and sense of humor intact.
