- Collaboration with Experts: Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract valuable information from diverse data formats (e.g., SQL tables, structured metadata, network logs).
- Feature Engineering: Incorporate SME insights into feature vectors, optimizing them for analytical development and testing.
- Quantitative Translation: Convert qualitative analysis processes and objectives into quantitative models for software prototypes.
- Analytics Development: Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques to generate descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Experimentation: Design experiments to gather data or create models when existing datasets are lacking.
- Algorithm Selection & Tuning: Identify and fine-tune suitable algorithms for specific datasets, ensuring optimal performance.
- Performance Evaluation: Assess and validate analytics performance using established techniques and metrics such as cross-validation and ROC curves.
- Team Leadership: Guide and oversee the analytic development process, mentoring fellow data scientists in building scalable solutions.
- Production Integration: Collaborate with software engineers and cloud developers to transition prototyped analytics into production frameworks.
- Emerging Technologies: Stay abreast of cutting-edge machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms, integrating state-of-the-art solutions into your work.
