Job description
A Data Analyst will be part of the IT department, responsible for the review, analysis, and interpretation of data extracted from mobile devices (phone dumps), cloud storage, and other digital media. He or she would work within the integrated computer system to support existing multiagency criminal justice information systems. The Data Analyst would help to ensure forensic software and hardware are optimized for data processing, and ensure all extracted evidence complies with the agency's security protocols and storage policies. This role requires IT proficiency, investigative knowledge, and strong written and oral communication skills., Evidence analysis: Review digital extractions to identify evidence such as call logs, encrypted messages, geo-location data, and deleted files.
Reporting: Translate technical data and digital evidence into clear, concise narrative reports for use by Assistant State Attorneys.
Court testimony: Serve as a witness to explain the nature of the data, the review process, and the findings discovered during analysis.
Database management: Organize and maintain large volumes of digital evidence within the agency's secure servers, ensuring data integrity and chain of custody.
Data security: Helps ensure forensic software and hardware are optimized for data processing, and ensure all extracted evidence complies with the agency's security protocols and storage policies.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, digital forensics, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute).
Technical skills: Proficiency with digital forensic software (e.g., Cellebrite, AXIOM).
Analytical mindset: Ability to identify trends, relationships, and irregularities in digital evidence. Must have a strong attention to detail.
Legal knowledge: Basic understanding of search warrants, evidence handling protocols, and the rules of evidence.
Communication: Exceptional writing skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
