Job description

To support this mission, our teams deliver flexible integration solutions across sensors, effectors, command and control, logistics, and operations. We also develop tools and methodologies that enable system-level studies and visualization aligned with customer requirements.

The Combat Decision Aid AI/ML Analysis Section Leader will oversee a team of approximately 15-20 engineers supporting airborne kill chain programs. These programs encompass multidisciplinary research, development, and production efforts in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, performance meta-modeling, airborne kill chain and air-to-air combat analysis, software-in-the-loop testing, and software production and quality assurance.

This role requires regular coordination with external customers, industry partners, subcontractors, and warfighter tactics experts. Experience with high-fidelity simulations is essential. The position involves substantial industry collaboration and offers high visibility with customers.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and participate in trade studies, research, development, and implementation of machine learning-based solutions to support warfighter capability needs.
  • Lead and participate in research into advanced neural network techniques to solve real-world war fighter challenges.
  • Lead and participate in development and implementation of model-based solutions to support mission trade studies and performance simulations and ensure they meet defined requirements and functions.
  • Lead and participate in performance engineering practices and procedures to evaluate work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems.
  • Extensive interaction with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Technical SMEs.
  • Extensive interface with the customer community on a regular basis to share status, issues, and address programmatic concerns.
  • Oversee the direct line management activities for the section including communication, performance management, career development, and talent acquisition.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other sections and teams.
  • Support department and directorate level initiatives.
  • Ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Section Leader duties account for approximately 10-20% of the employee's time.

Requirements

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, * Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in airborne kill chain analysis and or air-to-air effector engineering & analysis; including exposure to AI/ML or neural network analysis.
  • Experience in coordination and diplomacy skills in collaborating cross-industry, including subcontractors, our customers and with the warfighter.
  • Experience in the Defense industry.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance., * Advanced degree in mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation and/or weapon system performance.
  • An active and in-scope top-secret US security clearance
  • Experience in personal leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability/experience to lead engineering teams.

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
