Job description

This role is responsible for specific bodies of work within the data strategy and operating model, executing through talent from outside vendors and/or cross-functional teams. Lead Data Advisors act as data capability subject matter experts responsible for the items listed below.

What You Will Do:

  • Applies our data strategy to a team/project/program; serves as the thought leader, shaping the framework and/or methodology for a process; helps implement, and support our operating mode.
  • Accountable to ensure the objectives of consuming stakeholders use cases are met while clearly communicating data requirements, ensuring compliance from producing stakeholders.
  • Collaborates closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Operations professionals, and Software Developers to inform and influence the design of effective solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and strategic liaison for the project, workstream, or product for all data governance activities, including data contracts, extracting and prioritizing requirements, stewardship alignment, and cross-team coordination.
  • Proactively identify Data Governance needs and escalate for expert guidance where appropriate.
  • Develop a comprehensive Data Engagement Plan and lead execution of all data governance activities, including data contracts, stewardship alignment, and cross team coordination.
  • Review and interpret logical and physical data model, and outcomes from the Architecture Working Group (AWG).
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to discover and prioritize new data product opportunities and coordinate with Data Capability, Digital Product Management, Tech and Business teams to implement Data Products.
  • Champion, educate and reinforce to our stakeholders the role and responsibilities of the Data Advisor, Data Steward and the Data Capability.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years in data/analytics roles (e.g., data product management, analytics consulting, BI, data strategy, or applied AI).
  • Proven experience aligning business strategy to data capabilities and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data platforms (lakehouse, ELT/ETL), semantic modeling, BI, and AI concepts (feature stores, embeddings, MLOps, RAG).
  • Working knowledge of data governance (privacy, retention, classification) and Responsible AI principles.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate technical concepts to business language.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide strategic direction and technical leadership to align individual and team objectives to overall firm strategy; takes constructive action with little to no direction from others.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks/projects and adjust to changing priorities.
  • The ability to recommend solutions to senior & executive Firm leaders for a broad spectrum of business improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguous situations.
  • Attention to detail, sense of urgency, and commitment to deadlines.
  • Uses judgement to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
