Machine Learning Engineer (all genders)

Bayer is looking for a highly motivated Machine Learning Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term position within our Crop Science research environment. The role sits at the intersection of advanced computational methods and scientific discovery, supporting innovative data-driven initiatives across multidisciplinary teams. You will work on developing and applying modern machine learning approaches to complex internal datasets, contributing to projects that aim to enhance research efficiency and insight generation. • Work with large, complex, and heterogeneous datasets in a research setting
• Review, interpret, and reproduce methods from scientific literature

• Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

• University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field
• Strong programming skills in Python e.g., NumPy, pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow or similar
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles and model development workflows
• Familiarity with deep learning or advanced modelling approaches is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to read and implement methods from scientific publications
• Interest in working at the interface of computational and experimental research
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams

This is a fixed-term contract. The position is limited to 12 months, is full-time and located in Frankfurt, Germany.
