Job description

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the Patchman team. You'll work hands-on with Patchman's existing and legacy infrastructure, helping stabilize, modernize, and integrate it with our broader platform. This includes tackling technical debt, improving reliability and performance, optimizing infrastructure costs, and simplifying systems and processes along the way. You'll collaborate closely with other teams to help build a stronger and more maintainable foundation for the product., * Design, build, and maintain the Patchman backend infrastructure

  • Develop and maintain new product features, from design through implementation and testing
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues reported by customers, digging deep into the codebase to identify root causes
  • Operate and maintain a large fleet of dedicated servers, including API gateways, load balancers, and internal processing nodes
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines for efficient, automated delivery
  • Write and maintain comprehensive unit/integration tests to ensure code quality
  • Monitor performance and reliability of production systems, proactively identifying areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine architecture and contribute to technical direction

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Backend or DevOps Developer

  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language

  • Experience designing backend services, with a solid understanding of performance, concurrency, scalability, and reliability

  • Hands-on experience building and running high-throughput data pipelines at scale using Apache Kafka, ClickHouse, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies

  • Experience with SQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, and in-memory databases, such as Redis

  • Strong understanding of different data storage paradigms, including relational, NoSQL, and in-memory key-value databases

  • Practical experience with Docker and Docker Compose for local development and production deployments

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience working with monitoring systems

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD best practices, including Git, automated testing, and deployment workflows

  • Excellent debugging skills and the ability to investigate complex technical issues

  • Analytical mindset and the ability to interpret metrics and user feedback to make data-driven decisions

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Upper-intermediate spoken and written English

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Django
  • Experience with configuration management systems, such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or similar tools
