Job description
The Senior QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for testing a high-load payment gateway that handles real transactions. The role involves working with both sandbox and production environments, creating and managing test requests independently, and overseeing the gateway project lifecycle. The engineer will develop automated API and Web tests, debug issues using logs and HTTP traffic, and write clear bug reports while understanding related artifacts. The position also includes testing protocol-level audit requests for PCI DSS compliance and ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of a system processing a large volume of payments. Close collaboration with developers, the team, and external payment partners is essential., + Design and implement testing strategies for payment gateways and related services
- Develop and maintain automated tests (API and Web)
- Test REST APIs and integrations, including transaction statuses, refunds, chargebacks, webhooks/callbacks, and 3DS flows
- Collaborate and communicate with external payment providers and partners on integrations, issue investigation, and quality topics
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, including reporting and flaky test control
- Analyze logs, HTTP traffic, and test results to identify defects and root causes
- Produce high-quality test documentation (test plans, strategies, checklists, test cases)
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders
- Participate in performance testing and quality assurance of high-load systems
Requirements
Must have

6+ years of experience in QA, including at least 2 years in test automation (end-to-end)

Hands-on experience in fintech / payments domain

Strong understanding of payment flows: transaction statuses, refunds, chargebacks, webhooks/callbacks, and 3DS

Strong REST API and integration testing skills (idempotency, retries, timeouts, signatures)

Experience in critical Web automation (Playwright / Cypress / Selenium with Pytest or equivalent frameworks)

Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions), test reporting, and flaky test management

Strong debugging skills using logs and HTTP traffic

Practical Git skills for merging requests and resolving conflicts

Basic SQL skills

Ability to write clear, high-quality bug reports

Background in high-load or mission-critical payment systems

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Fluent Russian and a good working proficiency in English Nice to have

Knowledge of PCI DSS standards and regulatory requirements related to payment systems, gateways, APIs, and protocols

Experience in the crypto domain or crypto payment products

Hands-on experience with performance testing
