Job description

Within the Sunflower R&D team, you contribute to the Trait Introgression (TI) strategy by delivering high-level scientific and technological expertise. Your role is essential in guiding decisions within the Sunflower TI portfolio., Conversion activities management

  • Planning of field nurseries (resources, timelines, protocols), selfing generations, hybrid creation, seed treatment and quality control
  • Design of protocols and trials, training of operational teams
  • Evaluation of phenotyping methods and capture of agronomic and pathological data in the field
  • Coordination with cross-functional teams (Operations, Field Trials, Breeding, Planning)
  • Seed delivery to stakeholders according to protocols and internal documentation

Trait Introgression pipeline management

  • Analysis, synthesis and interpretation of complex TI pipeline data to generate strategic reports, dashboards and decision notes for R&D teams and leadership
  • Ensuring recording, maintenance and update of all TI projects in tracking systems and project management tools
  • Consolidation and validation of key data sources (genotyping, phenotyping) and reporting via Power BI and Qlik Sense
  • Development of analytical scripts and automated workflows (Python, R, SQL) to improve data flow efficiency, pipeline visibility and process traceability

Requirements

  • Master's degree required (PhD preferred) in Agronomy, Plant Breeding/Genetics, Crop Science or related fields

Experience and technical skills

  • Strong experience in quantitative/population genetics, genetic segregation, genomics, novel breeding methods and trait introgression strategies
  • Expertise in phenotyping methods and ability to capture agronomic and pathological field notes
  • Knowledge of genotyping methods and processes, molecular data management, metrics consolidation and reporting
  • Proficiency in dashboard tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense)
  • Programming skills (Python, R, SQL) appreciated
