Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented ITAD / Lifecycle Engineer to join our IT team at our Northampton headquarters. This hands-on role is responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of IT assets, from receiving and auditing equipment through to testing, refurbishment, secure data sanitisation, deployment, storage and environmentally compliant disposal.

Working primarily within our warehouse environment, you will ensure customer assets are processed accurately, securely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance and asset tracking., * Receive, inspect and accurately log incoming customer IT equipment.

  • Perform asset audits using internal asset management systems and barcode scanning.
  • Test desktop PCs, laptops, servers, networking equipment and peripherals to determine functionality.
  • Carry out hardware diagnostics, repairs and component upgrades where appropriate.
  • Perform certified data erasure using approved software and processes in line with industry standards.
  • Generate data erasure reports and asset documentation for customer records.
  • Prepare refurbished equipment for redeployment, resale or customer return.
  • Package and palletise equipment safely for shipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records throughout every stage of the asset lifecycle.
  • Ensure warehouse stock locations remain organised and accurately managed.
  • Support customer lifecycle projects including deployments, refresh programmes and decommissioning activities.
  • Identify equipment suitable for refurbishment, harvesting of parts or environmentally responsible recycling.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures within the warehouse.
  • Maintain security of customer assets and confidential information at all times.
  • Assist with warehouse housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support engineers and project teams during busy operational periods.

Requirements

  • Experience working with computer hardware and IT equipment.
  • Good understanding of PC, laptop and server components.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing IT hardware.
  • Knowledge of Windows installation and basic system configuration.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable handling and moving IT equipment safely.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable for occasional customer site visits).

Desirable

  • Previous experience within IT Asset Disposition (ITAD).
  • Experience using asset management or inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of secure data destruction standards (NIST 800-88, Blancco, BitRaser or similar).
  • Understanding of WEEE regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Experience working within an IT warehouse or logistics environment.
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft or similar technical certifications.
