Job description
Arondite is looking for Deployed AI Engineers to understand our customer's problems and implement solutions using AI. We want people who are excited about the opportunity to take ownership for building AI within a high-performance, mission-focused team.
You will be working with AI/ML models and deploying them within our software products, both running in the cloud and on edge devices in the field. The role will also encompass addressing the wider practicalities and challenges in implementing AI-based systems, including obtaining training data, addressing ethical concerns and explaining model behaviours.
As an early member of the AI team at Arondite, you will be able to shape how we exploit the AI revolution, both as part of products and to accelerate our internal processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working with customers to identify and understand their problems
- Designing end-to-end AI solutions from the sensor to the user interface
- Training, evaluating, testing and productionising robust and performant deep learning models to solve real-world challenges
- Collaborating with other engineers to integrate models into our enterprise software product and resource-constrained hardware systems
- Inventing novel capabilities and optimising existing approaches whilst remaining aware of ethical implications of your engineering decisions
- Documenting and explaining your solutions to provide evidence of compliance with policies regarding the safe use of AI
- Building secure, robust solutions by adhering to coding standards throughout the development lifecycle, All 'deployed' roles at Arondite involve working closely with customers at their UK locations, and when they go abroad. This can mean being away from our office for between 1 and 4 days a week on a regular basis, or going abroad for up to 2 or 3 weeks every few months. As this is a big commitment, we endeavour to maintain flexibility in resourcing to support people's personal circumstances.
Right to Work
We require that all candidates have an existing Right to Work in the UK at the time of application.
Security clearance
We believe in working closely with defence customers. As a result, this role will require the individual to hold a clearance or be willing to undergo UK security vetting to Security Check (SC) or above. This normally requires having continuous residency in the UK for at least 5 years.
Requirements
Arondite aims to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives. We therefore don't expect people to have experience across every area of the requirements. Please apply even if you only partially fulfil the following lists. You should have:
- Masters degree (MSc, MEng, etc) in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics or a related engineering field
- 4 years of relevant experience researching and applying modern AI/ML in areas such as scene understanding, multi-modal sensing, control and path planning, or vision-language understanding.
- The ability to write clean and maintainable code in Python, Rust, C++ or Java
- Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow or JAX
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to document your work effectively and present it to relevant stake-holders and users
- A passion for identifying and implementing pragmatic solutions to hard problems using AI and conventional algorithms
Ideally, you would also have:
- PhD in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, or a related field
- Authored publications in top-tier journals and conferences (e.g. CVPR, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICCV, ICRA, IROS, TPAMI)
- Experience working with MLOps infrastructure or deploying AI models to production, including the associated monitoring, testing and quality assurance
- An understanding of different sensor modalities, their trade-offs, and relevant methods for processing their outputs to drive performance in challenging scenarios
- Created and optimised state-of-the-art AI models for resource-constrained hardware
- Experience with synthetic data generation or simulation, or collection and management of large real-world datasets
