We are looking for a senior and experienced level 2 IT Technician to join our growing education support team in the and Somerset / Devon area. This is a field-based role (WFH), providing on-site IT support and leading project installations at schools and businesses throughout the Plymouth, Barnstaple, Taunton and Yeovil area .
As a Senior IT Engineer you will deliver some regular scheduled support to our education customers and SME's. Due to the varied nature of the role, support will encompass aspects of 1st and 2nd line tasks,.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading projects works, such as:
Infrastructure Projects
- Deploy new Windows Servers (physical and virtual)
- Microsoft Hyper-V installations and migrations
- VMware migrations (where applicable)
- Active Directory design and migrations
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) implementations
- Microsoft Intune deployments
- Microsoft 365 tenant migrations
- Exchange Online migrations
- SharePoint Online migrations
- OneDrive migrations
- File server migrations
- Storage migrations (NAS/SAN)
Networking Projects
- Design and install UniFi and Ruckus networks
- VLAN design and implementation
- Layer 3 routing
- Site-to-site VPNs
- Remote access VPNs
- Firewall replacements and migrations
- Wi-Fi surveys and optimisation
- Internet connection migrations
- SD-WAN deployments
- Structured troubleshooting of complex networking issue

Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular scheduled visits to schools and the odd business, providing IT support
- Responding to emergency call-outs as an when required to to both schools and businesses.
- Delivering and supporting IT projects within schools and businesses.
- Providing expert advice and technical support in person, remotely and over the telephone.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an IT support role within a school or educational MSP setting or business MSP. Such as Computeam or ICT4
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, plus a good telephone manner
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS and safeguarding check
