Job description
As an Associate Splunk Engineer, you'll support the delivery of high-quality technical solutions across one or more technology domains. The entry-level role is designed for individuals early in their engineering careers, providing hands-on experience in system implementation, support, and continuous improvement.
Day-to-day, you'll work under the close guidance of senior engineers and architects, contributing to operational tasks, documentation, and service improvements whilst developing their technical and professional capabilities.
Your responsibilities will include: Assisting in the implementation and maintenance of enterprise-grade solutions under the guidance of senior engineers Performing basic troubleshooting and escalate complex issues whilst supporting day-to-day operational tasks, including monitoring and routine maintenance Working closely with senior engineers, team leaders, and other stakeholders to understand project goals and technical requirements Contribution to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles and supporting the collection and reporting of operational metrics and service performance data Following established security, performance, and operational standards demonstrating awareness of risk management and compliance requirements
Requirements
Previous experience in technical roles, such as internships, placements, or academic projects within IT or engineering environments Foundational understanding of one or more technology domains (e.g., Infrastructure, Networking, Cloud, End User Computing) Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python or Bash) Awareness of ITIL principles and basic service management concepts An understanding of Linux Centos / RedHat administration Excellent communications skills with a willingness to learn
Essential qualifications for the Associate Splunk Engineer: A Technical Degree (i.e. within a Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent field or equivalent relevant experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Malvern, Farnborough or MOD Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. The role may require working within shift patterns between 07:30-18:30 GMT, depending on team and service requirements
