Web Designer

• Design and build professional, responsive websites using WordPress and Shopify.
• Create websites that are attractive, easy to navigate and focused on generating enquiries or sales.
• Manage and update existing client websites.
• Set up and manage website hosting environments.
• Manage domains, DNS records, SSL certificates, email records and website migrations.
• Install, configure and maintain WordPress themes and plugins.
• Configure Shopify themes, products, collections, payments and essential integrations.
• Carry out website maintenance, backups, updates and troubleshooting.
• Improve website speed, security, mobile usability and overall performance.
• Apply on-page and technical SEO best practices.
• Conduct keyword research and optimise website pages and content.
• Work with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console and SEO platforms.
• Understand and apply developing principles relating to AI, AEO and GEO.
• Collaborate with digital marketing, content and account management colleagues.
• Communicate clearly about project requirements, timescales and potential technical issues.
• Manage multiple client projects and complete work to agreed deadlines.

We are looking for a capable and motivated Web Designer to join our growing digital team.

This role would suit someone who combines strong website design skills with a good technical understanding of how websites, hosting platforms and domain accounts operate. You must be confident building and managing both WordPress and Shopify websites and understand how website structure, content, performance and technical setup affect SEO.

The digital landscape is changing quickly, so we are looking for someone who is interested in AI and emerging areas such as Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). You do not need to be an expert in everything from day one, but you must be eager to learn and develop your skills., * Proven experience designing and building WordPress websites.

• Proven experience designing and managing Shopify websites.
• A strong understanding of responsive web design and user experience.
• Good working knowledge of hosting platforms, domains and DNS management.
• Experience managing website migrations and resolving common technical issues.
• A good understanding of on-page, off-page and technical SEO.
• Knowledge of website performance, security and accessibility.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good organisation, time management and communication skills.
• A genuine desire to learn and develop as the role and industry evolve.

Desirable skills

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript.
• Experience with PHP or custom WordPress development.
• Experience using page builders such as Elementor, Divi or WPBakery.
• Experience with WooCommerce and e-commerce integrations.
• Knowledge of website tracking, conversion tracking and Google Tag Manager.
• Experience using SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog or similar.
• An understanding of AI tools and how they can support website design, content and SEO.
• Awareness of AEO, GEO, structured data and schema markup.
