Job description
We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to help automate and optimize the software development and deployment pipeline supporting the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). You'll build and manage the cloud environments that power AI research on AWS GPU compute, deploy stand-alone applications, and work closely with end users and partner teams across the community. If you enjoy scripting your way to reliable, repeatable infrastructure, this role gives you real ownership and real impact.
What You'll Do
- Deploy and maintain AWS infrastructure for multiple development teams
- Automate infrastructure deployment using CloudFormation and Ansible
- Manage scripts and templates in GitHub, using Git for version control
- Partner with the security team to implement controls and maintain compliance
- Monitor servers and infrastructure proactively to catch issues early
- Build and maintain Jenkins pipelines to keep releases moving smoothly
Requirements
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Solid Linux troubleshooting skills
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI
- Working knowledge of an infrastructure-as-code or automation/orchestration tool (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
- Comfort with Git-based version control (GitHub or GitLab)
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced Agile environment
- Active Secret clearance or higher (required - see note below)
Nice to Have
- Experience deploying solutions in virtualized environments
- Background building back-end environments for storing test data and results
- Experience developing web-based front-end dashboards for reporting and analysis
- Familiarity with dependency management and container environments (e.g., Docker)
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience Don't check every box? We'd still love to hear from you.
