Job description
UST is seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer to support Walmart's retail technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java backend development, Python scripting, SQL, and retail domain knowledge. This role involves building scalable enterprise applications, analyzing retail data, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions., * Design, develop, and maintain enterprise backend applications using Java (Core Java, J2EE, Spring Boot).
- Develop Python scripts for automation, data extraction, and data analysis.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze and validate large retail datasets.
- Analyze item/product master data, including item setup, attributes, categorization, and SKU/UPC mapping.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, inconsistencies, and system integration gaps.
- Collaborate with business analysts, merchandising teams, and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Perform root cause analysis for production issues and support critical retail applications.
- Prepare technical documentation and mentor junior developers.
- Follow SDLC best practices and participate in Agile ceremonies.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Java Backend Development
- Strong hands-on experience with Core Java, J2EE, Spring Boot
- Proficiency in Python scripting for automation, data extraction, and analysis
- Advanced SQL skills with experience writing and optimizing complex queries
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and Microservices architecture
- Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong debugging and production support experience
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Retail Domain Experience (Mandatory):
- Strong understanding of Retail Item/SKU Management

- Merchandising
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Retail Data Analysis and Validation, * Experience with Walmart retail systems
- Knowledge of Kafka or event-driven architecture
- Experience with Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
