The team develops modern, scalable software platforms that support global commercial payment experiences.

• Build and enhance REST APIs, gRPC services, backend services, and microservices
• Develop and support event-driven systems and asynchronous integration architectures
• Design and implement high-performance, scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant applications
• Work independently to develop production-quality software
• Collaborate with Technical Product Managers to break down solutions into smaller achievable tasks
• Support testing and operations teams with troubleshooting, defect research, and root cause analysis
• Communicate status, issues, and risks effectively and timely
• Contribute to efficient development pipelines through CICD and engineering automation
• Identify opportunities to improve standards, best practices, and development processes

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will independently design, develop, and enhance software systems that meet high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, reliability, and compliance. You will play an important role in building API-first, microservices-based, event-driven backend systems and in evolving the engineering practices that support them.

This role requires a GenAI-first attitude. You are expected to actively leverage GenAI, LLMs, coding copilots, and agentic engineering tools for design exploration, development acceleration, test generation, code review support, debugging, documentation, and operational efficiency., Basic Qualifications * 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience Preferred Qualifications * 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) * Strong backend engineering experience with REST APIs, gRPC, J2EE, JDBC, JMS * Hands-on experience with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, WebFlux, and Vert.x * Experience in building Generative AI applications, conversational AI, RAG architectures, techniques and libraries * Experience building backend services, microservices, and distributed applications * Experience with event-driven architectures * Understanding of highly available and scalable application design and operations * Strong experience with Agile development and CICD using tools such as GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Sonar, JUni * Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle including version control, build process, testing, and code release * Strong oral and written communication skills * Strong troubleshooting, interpersonal, and analytical skills * Ability to manage competing priorities with minimal direction * Required hands-on use of GenAI LLM tools in regular engineering workflows * Clear evidence of a GenAI-first engineering mindset * Experience with Kafka, Redis, or NoSQL datastores * Hands-on experience with MySQL, DB2, Oracle, or equivalent databases * Strong ability to understand and write simple and complex SQL * Experience with container technologies, caching, API gateways, and security * Exposure to DevOps practices including automation, monitoring, logging, auditing, and security implementation * Experience contributing to design artifacts and technical reviews The Skills You Bring * Strong proficiency in backend engineering using REST APIs, gRPC, J2EE, JDBC, JMS * Hands-on command of Spring, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, WebFlux, and Vert.x * A strong GenAI-first mindset, using AI tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and engineering effectiveness * Strong understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns * Strong experience in API development, microservices, backend services, and event-driven architecture * Ability to build systems with high standards of performance, resiliency, scalability, and reliability * Strong CICD and SDLC discipline * Solid SQL and database capabilities * Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and production support skills * Ability to communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly
