Job description

The Cloud Database Administrator is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of secure healthcare data platforms within a cloud environment. This role combines Database Administration (DBA) expertise with cloud data engineering capabilities to ensure high performance, availability, security, and regulatory compliance of enterprise data systems.

The position supports analytics, interoperability, and clinical reporting initiatives while maintaining strict adherence to healthcare data privacy and security standards. Microsoft Azure or AWS database-related certifications, and Epic Cogito certification are a plus.

You will be responsible for various activities related to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Memorial's database(s). Supports the administration of databases, database technologies, data platforms and systems responsible for backup, recovery, performance tuning, security, auditing, metadata management, optimization, statistics, capacity planning, connectivity and other data solutions of critical database systems.

Responsibilities:

Maintains working knowledge of database best practices and database deployment in the market.

Participates in working with application vendors to comply with their requirements and best practices, plan for upgrades, and troubleshoot/fix issues.

Assists with testing and troubleshooting of application issues deemed related to database operations and functions.

Maintains and monitors database performance by completing maintenance requirements, and evaluating operating systems and hardware products with guidance from senior database administrators.

Participates in design and development of databases to build expertise in database platforms including stored procedures, triggers, transactional modeling, normalization, indexing methods, constraints and object usage.

Enforces and collaboratively develops database administration standards, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with company compliance standards and requirements.

Drafts system report designs to best illustrate system performance and data management workflows.

Collaborates with senior database administrators to develop system reports and designs database solutions that fully address database recovery specifications, structural, and back-up needs.

Manages system changes, servers, caching, reporting, and the capacity planning of database management systems.

Requirements
