Job description
Creating the Difference is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented ERP System Specialist to help implement, manage, and continuously improve our company-wide ERP system.
This position will serve as a key internal resource for our ERP and the business processes connected to it. The ideal candidate understands how inventory, purchasing, sales, order fulfillment, product data, and other operational processes work together and can translate those processes into an organized, reliable ERP environment.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a system, solving problems, working with multiple departments, and helping build processes that can grow with the company.
Previous hands-on ERP experience is required; however, experience with one specific ERP platform is not. We value strong ERP fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and business process knowledge over familiarity with a particular software.
Key ResponsibilitiesERP Implementation & System Management
- Assist with and take an active role in the implementation, configuration, and continued development of the company's ERP system.
- Serve as a primary internal resource for ERP-related processes, questions, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate existing business processes and help translate them into effective ERP workflows.
- Configure and maintain system settings, workflows, permissions, and operational processes as needed.
- Test system changes, workflows, integrations, and new functionality before implementation.
- Identify system limitations, process gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work with software support, vendors, and internal teams to resolve system issues.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
Data Management & Accuracy
- Maintain accurate product, inventory, customer, vendor, and operational data within the ERP.
- Monitor data quality and identify inconsistencies, duplicate information, or process-related errors.
- Assist with data imports, exports, cleanup, migration, and validation.
- Maintain and verify SKUs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), assemblies, product information, and related system records.
- Help establish processes and controls that support long-term data accuracy and consistency.
- Develop and maintain useful reports that provide management with reliable operational information.
Inventory & Business Operations
- Support accurate inventory management across multiple locations and areas of the business.
- Help establish and maintain effective processes for purchasing, receiving, inventory transfers, production or assembly, order fulfillment, and inventory adjustments.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify potential system or process causes.
- Work with employees across departments to ensure day-to-day operations align with established ERP processes.
- Help improve visibility into inventory levels, product movement, purchasing needs, costs, sales, and other key business information.
Process Improvement
- Evaluate current workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Recommend practical improvements when existing processes or system configurations are not meeting business needs.
- Help standardize processes across departments and locations where appropriate.
- Assist with connecting the ERP to other business systems and workflows, including accounting, e-commerce, point-of-sale, shipping, and related platforms.
- Support management with accurate reporting and better access to operational data for decision-making.
Training & User Support
- Train employees on proper ERP procedures and system use.
- Create clear documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and training resources.
- Provide ongoing support to employees using the ERP in their daily responsibilities.
- Help troubleshoot user issues and determine whether problems are related to training, process, data, or system configuration.
- Encourage consistent system use and help ensure established procedures are followed.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience working with an ERP system in an administrative, implementation, operational, or systems-focused role.
- Strong understanding of how business processes and data connect within an ERP environment.
- Experience working with inventory, purchasing, sales, order management, or similar operational workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong computer and technology skills with the ability to quickly learn new software.
- Ability to independently investigate problems and follow them through to resolution.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with employees across multiple departments.
Preferred
- Experience implementing, migrating, or significantly restructuring an ERP system.
- Experience in an inventory-heavy, manufacturing, assembly, distribution, wholesale, retail, or e-commerce environment.
- Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), assemblies, inventory costing, and multi-location inventory.
- Experience with integrations between ERP, accounting, e-commerce, POS, shipping, or other business systems.
- Experience creating reports, dashboards, or data-analysis tools.
- Familiarity with accounting and financial workflows within an ERP environment.
- Experience developing SOPs, documenting processes, and training system users.
