Job description

We are seeking an experienced Application Developer / Cloud Engineer to support critical U.S. Navy mission-critical cloud platform delivery efforts 100% on-site in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain secure software applications and automated pipelines directly within classified government enclaves (SCIF). You will bridge the gap between application code and secure infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and modern DevSecOps methodologies., * On-Site Collaboration: Work daily within high-security facilities in Norfolk to collaborate with Navy personnel, system administrators, and tactical stakeholders.

  • Application Development: Design, write, test, and debug secure cloud-native applications and microservices tailored for Navy fleet and enterprise operational environments using Java and Python.
  • Cloud Architecture Implementation: Deploy and manage resilient, scalable workloads in high-compliance AWS environments, maximizing serverless architectures and automated cloud configurations.
  • DevOps & Automation: Build, scale, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, artifact management, and rapid product deployments.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and implement reusable infrastructure configurations using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to minimize environmental drift.
  • Security & Compliance: Hardened applications and environments to ensure compliance with DoD STIGs and Navy Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must reside within 30 miles of Norfolk, Virginia
  • MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE TOP SECRET CLEARANCE (TS/SCI)
  • An AWS Certification Preferred- (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer).
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Must have a bachelor's degree (Computer Science Concentration)
  • DoD Government Experience, * Work Location: Ability to work 100% on-site at a designated secure facility in the Norfolk, VA area (no remote work or telework options available).
  • Security Clearance: Must hold an active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance at the time of application.
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development, system analysis, or database management.
  • Programming Languages: Demonstrated proficiency in modern programming languages, specifically Java and Python.
  • AWS Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience with core AWS services, including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and ECS.
  • AWS Certifications: Must possess active professional-level certifications:
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • DoD 8140/8570 Compliance: Must hold an active IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or CISSP).
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is strictly required.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Direct experience working with isolated, air-gapped, or cross-domain networks.
  • Experience implementing automated security scanning tools (SAST/DAST, container scanning, and vulnerability tracking) inside AWS ECS pipelines.
  • Familiarity with database optimization techniques for cloud-native NoSQL options like DynamoDB.
  • Prior experience working near or directly supporting US Navy Fleet operations or local commands (e.g., USFFC, NAVWAR/NIWC Atlantic, or NAVSEA).
