Job description

A client of Insight Global is searching for a Systems Administrator who will support and manage global Microsoft Azure-hosted Windows and Linux server environments. This role is focused on day-to-day operations, including provisioning, patching, monitoring, backups, security remediation, troubleshooting, and incident response. The person will also support smaller infrastructure projects and ongoing improvements in partnership with internal IT, security, and infrastructure teams., * Administer Windows Server and Linux environments, including builds, configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

  • Manage Azure infrastructure supporting server workloads, including virtual machines, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring.

  • Support hybrid infrastructure needs such as identity, DNS, networking, VPN/ExpressRoute, and limited on-prem virtualization.

  • Serve as an escalation point for server and infrastructure issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across Windows, Linux, and related infrastructure.

  • Maintain monitoring, backup, restore, and performance processes, including periodic restore testing.

  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and command-line tools.

  • Maintain accurate tickets, documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.

  • Coordinate with network, security, application, end-user services, and vendor teams.

Support smaller projects such as cloud provisioning, application deployments, upgrades, site changes, and server standardization.

Requirements

  • Systems Administrator level: typically 5+ years of Windows Server administration experience, including 2+ years supporting Azure workloads.

  • Senior Systems Administrator level: typically 7+ years of Windows Server administration experience, including 3 to 4+ years supporting Azure or hybrid environments.

  • Experience with patch management, vulnerability remediation, and enterprise monitoring practices.

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server in enterprise environments.

  • Experience managing Azure IaaS workloads, including compute, networking, storage, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.

  • Experience with Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, file services, and certificate concepts.

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancing.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across operating systems, networking, identity, and cloud infrastructure.

  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience.

  • Ability to work independently in a ticket-driven operations environment.

  • Willingness to participate in on-call support and planned maintenance windows. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi/vCenter, and/or Hyper-V.

  • Linux administration experience.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management.

  • Familiarity with Azure governance and security tools such as RBAC, Azure Policy, Key Vault, and logging/monitoring practices.

  • Experience in an international manufacturing environment or with manufacturing-related systems such as PI, data historians, OT remote access, IoT gateways, or HMIs.

  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tools.

  • Additional language skills such as German, Italian, Hungarian, Portuguese, or Spanish.

  • Ability to travel to manufacturing sites as needed, estimated at 0 to 10%.

Benefits & conditions

$20/hr to $21/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
