Job description
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor servers, workstations, virtual machines, and network infrastructure supporting development, testing, and operational environments.
- Provide system support, troubleshoot incidents, and implement fixes or escalations as needed to meet aggressive program timelines.
- Manage user access, authentication, and account lifecycle in accordance with cybersecurity and compliance policies.
- Maintain configuration control, apply security patches, and perform regular system updates in accordance with STIGs and cybersecurity directives.
- Support DevOps workflows, including automation of system tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support accreditation efforts (RMF, NIST 800-53), vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Document procedures, system configurations, and recovery plans; maintain operational runbooks and SOPs.
- Other duties as assigned

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time detail-oriented System Administrator to join a fast-paced, cutting-edge technology program driving innovation in cyber security and autonomy. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to manage and secure complex computing environments across multiple platforms and networks. You will work side-by-side with engineers, developers, and security personnel to ensure seamless system operations and rapid support in a mission-critical environment., * Must be US Citizen
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a system administrator in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Proficiency with Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration.
- Experience managing virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
- Familiarity with secure system configurations, DoD STIGs, and RMF frameworks.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Python).
- Certifications such as Security+, CEH, Linux+, Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) certifications preferred
- Experience supporting classified or air-gapped systems.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
- Experience developing and collaborating on software (git, etc)
Nice to have qualifications:
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD cert)
- Experience achieving CTF/ATO/RMF
- AI/ML experience
- High performance computing (HPC +Slurm) experience in a research environment.
- Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE2)
- Security scanning tools (Fortify scans)
