Job description
The Senior Data Analyst plays a key role in configuring the storage, migration, and accessibility of data for business use and clients. This includes transforming data into insights to streamline and improve the Company's vision, value, and client satisfaction. The Senior Data Analyst develops standardized reports using Power BI and SQL while leveraging Python or similar tools to automate processes and manage large datasets. The Senior Data Analyst must understand business and functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions. The Senior Data Analyst serves as the subject matter expert for enterprise reporting and analytics, partnering with business and technical teams to define reporting standards, semantic models, and business metrics. This role develops a deep understanding of the Company's industry, legacy data structures, and the new system's data model., Business Intelligence and Reporting
· Develop and maintain business intelligence dashboards and reports.
· Develop Gold Layer reports and datasets based on business requirements.
· Design executive, operational, and paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder.
· Build semantic models, DAX measures, KPIs, aggregations, and calculated fields.
· Implement Row-Level Security (RLS).
· Administer Power BI Service workspaces and report publishing.
· Define enterprise reporting standards and KPI definitions.
Business Analysis and Data Validation
· Develop a deep understanding of the Company's industry and business processes.
· Understand legacy data structures and the new system's data model.
· Validate migrated data between legacy and new systems.
· Lead requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders.
Analytics and Collaboration
· Collaborate with Data Engineers on reporting-ready Gold Layer datasets.
· Document reports, semantic models, KPIs, and business definitions.
· Perform ad hoc analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related field.
- Advanced Microsoft Power BI (Power BI Service, Semantic Models, DAX, Report Builder) is required.
- Experience building dashboard and paginated reports.
- Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS).
- SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, and data modeling.
- Understanding of Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with business leaders to define KPIs.
- Basic understanding of machine learning concepts preferred.
- Accounting, finance, or insurance data experience preferred.
- Excellent and clear communication skills both written and verbal in English.
- Must live local to Parsippany, NJ (this is a not a remote role)
