Job description
We are seeking an experienced Device Test Engineer to support the validation, certification, and performance testing of wireless devices across next-generation mobile network technologies. This role will be responsible for executing lab and field testing activities, analyzing device behavior, troubleshooting complex issues, and working closely with OEMs, chipset vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure devices meet quality and performance standards., * Execute comprehensive device testing and certification activities for smartphones, tablets, and connected wireless devices.
- Perform lab and field testing across LTE, 5G NSA, 5G SA, and mmWave network environments.
- Validate voice, messaging, and data services, including VoLTE, VoWiFi, RCS, SMS, and MMS functionality.
- Develop, execute, and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.
- Collect, analyze, and troubleshoot device logs to identify root causes of network, application, and performance issues.
- Investigate failures related to radio access technologies, mobility scenarios, call setup, messaging, and data connectivity.
- Review and analyze signaling and protocol traces involving RRC, NAS, and related wireless procedures.
- Support device certification programs and ensure compliance with carrier and industry requirements.
- Utilize network simulators and testing platforms to validate device functionality in controlled environments.
- Collaborate with OEMs, chipset manufacturers, network engineering teams, and certification partners to resolve technical issues.
- Document findings and provide detailed technical reports, defect analysis, and recommendations.
- Participate in issue triage meetings and drive resolution of device, software, and network-related defects.
- Support new technology trials and feature validations for emerging wireless services and devices.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of wireless technologies, device certification processes, network protocols, and device logging tools. This individual must be able to identify, investigate, and communicate technical issues effectively while helping drive successful device launches and network compatibility initiatives., * 5+ years of experience in device testing, validation, and certification within wireless telecommunications environments.
- Strong understanding of wireless technologies and protocols, including:
- 4G LTE
- 5G NSA (Non-Standalone)
- 5G SA (Standalone)
- 5G mmWave
- VoLTE
- VoWiFi
- RCS
- SMS
- MMS
- Solid understanding of wireless network architecture and call flow procedures.
- Experience analyzing signaling and protocol traces involving:
- RRC (Radio Resource Control)
- NAS (Non-Access Stratum)
- Call setup and mobility procedures
- Registration and connectivity scenarios
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience testing both iOS and Android devices.
- Experience collecting, reviewing, and triaging device logs for issue analysis and troubleshooting.
- Minimum 2 years of experience using device diagnostic and logging tools such as:
- QXDM
- XCAP
- XCAL
- Similar wireless troubleshooting and analysis tools
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with network simulation platforms, including:
- Keysight UXM
- Other wireless network simulator solutions
- Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills., * Experience supporting carrier device acceptance and certification programs.
- Knowledge of wireless interoperability testing and carrier network requirements.
- Familiarity with chipset-level troubleshooting and modem behavior analysis.
- Experience working directly with device manufacturers and chipset vendors.
- Exposure to automation tools and test framework development.
- Understanding of RF fundamentals, mobility testing, and field performance analysis.

Education
- Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will also be considered., The ideal candidate combines strong wireless protocol knowledge with hands-on device testing expertise across both lab and field environments. They are skilled at diagnosing complex device and network issues, comfortable working with logging and simulation tools, and capable of communicating findings effectively to device manufacturers, chipset vendors, and internal stakeholders.
