Job description
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for standardizing and continuously improving quality assurance practices across software development efforts. This role oversees testing and debugging activities, identifies root causes of defects, and develops reliable, scalable fixes.
The position involves researching and resolving complex software-related issues and providing recommendations to enhance performance, stability, and maintainability. The Senior Software Engineer begins to influence departmental strategy by contributing to architecture discussions, development best practices, and long-term technology planning.
Main Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and support scalable software applications and services

Lead and standardize quality assurance and testing practices

Oversee debugging efforts and implement effective, long-term fixes

Investigate and resolve complex production and software issues

Make technical decisions regarding architecture, tools, and implementation strategies

Provide strong technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the team

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, consumer-focused solutions

Contribute to engineering strategy and continuous improvement initiatives, + Associates may be required to come into the office on an occasional, as-needed basis for meetings, planning sessions, or collaboration, Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Requirements

Strong software development experience, with a proven ability to design and build complex solutions

Hands-on experience with API and .NET development

Experience working with Apigee Hybrid

Experience with Kafka and event-driven or integration-based architectures

Full-stack development experience

Demonstrated strong technical leadership skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

5 or more years of experience designing, developing, and testing software applications and/or infrastructure

Experience developing software in a large, enterprise environment (experience at Humana preferred but not required; external candidates are encouraged to apply)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science or a related field

$106,900 - $147,000 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
