Job description
As an Application Analyst II supporting laboratory applications, you will help keep the systems, workflows, and technologies that support clinical and anatomic pathology operations running reliably. You will partner with laboratory staff, pathologists, clinicians, vendors, and technical teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, support implementations, and ensure laboratory teams have the tools they need to deliver high-quality care.
What You'll Do
- Provide day-to-day application support by responding to end-user incidents, service requests, and system-related issues in a timely and customer-focused manner.
- Troubleshoot application, interface, hardware, peripheral, and instrumentation issues in collaboration with laboratory stakeholders, vendors, and internal technical teams.
- Participate in application implementations, upgrades, testing, configuration, workflow optimization, and change management activities.
- Develop and execute test plans, perform software quality assurance tasks, and support reliable system performance.
- Create and maintain end-user documentation, provide training, and help users confidently operate supported applications.
- Run reports, update tables, maintain application data, and complete operational tasks that support the software environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce disruptions, and strengthen application support processes.
- Participate in regular team meetings to share updates, discuss priorities, and collaborate on team initiatives.

By keeping applications stable, improving workflows, and helping users solve problems, you will contribute to efficient operations and the delivery of high-quality patient care., * Hybrid work model with onsite presence required to support laboratory operations and collaborate with clinical stakeholders.
- Minimum of four days per week onsite, with flexibility required based on weekly or monthly business needs.
- Standard schedule is Monday-Friday during Eastern business hours.
- Participation in a rotating on-call support schedule is required to provide after-hours support for critical laboratory applications.
- On remote workdays, employees must use a stable, secure, compliant workstation in a quiet environment. Microsoft Teams video is required and must be accessed using MGB-provided equipment.
- This role does not require direct patient care.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience developing, supporting, or operating software applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
- Ability to learn quickly, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and common office productivity tools.
- If supporting Epic applications, ability to obtain required Epic certifications in accordance with program requirements.
