Job description

IT Finance Data Operations team is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior AWS Glue & Apache Airflow Developer to help design, build, and support data pipelines in AWS. The Programmer Senior will play a pivotal role in building our AWS solution for delivering and monitoring data for our Finance business partners. This role will be responsible for developing scalable solutions, implementing automated date control rules, and orchestrating workflows that deliver high-quality financial and regulatory reporting data. The successful candidate will partner with Finance, Data Operations, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to build reliable, secure, and scalable cloud-based data solutions., * Analyzes, designs, and develops systems based upon user specifications.

  • Provides technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems.
  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of and works with the technical tools available for systems development and support.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
  • May assist with identifying training needs or with training of less experienced staff.
  • May serve as project leader for specific projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, statistics or related field, or equivalent related work experience.
  • 7+ years of related experience in data management disciplines including data integration, data modeling, optimization and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks.
  • 3-5+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiative, experience with data preparation tools and database programming languages.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Experience with production support, incident management, and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert-level experience developing and maintaining AWS Glue jobs using Python (PySpark).
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and supporting Apache Airflow workflows and DAGs in production environments.
  • Extensive experience with AWS services including Glue, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, EventBridge, Secrets Manager, Redshift, RDS and SNS/SQS.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
  • Experience building scalable, cloud-native data pipelines supporting large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise platforms including Snowflake, Oracle, APIs, file systems, and third-party applications.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and metadata management.
  • Experience implementing automated data quality, reconciliation, validation, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience using infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Strong understanding of AWS security, best practices including IAM roles, encryption, Secrets Manager, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and optimizing Glue Jobs and Airflow DAG execution.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior developers and leading technical design discussions.
  • Bank, financial services, or regulatory reporting experience (FR Y-14, CCAR, CECL, Call Report, OFSAA, etc.) is highly preferred.
