Job description

We're looking for an AI-Assisted Full-Stack Software Engineer who sees AI as a competitive advantage.

At Utility Connect, AI is part of our daily development process. We use tools like Claude, Cursor, and other AI-powered platforms to accelerate development, automate repetitive work, and move ideas into production faster. We're looking for someone who understands software engineering well enough to guide AI-generated code, improve it, troubleshoot it, and build secure, scalable applications.

You'll work closely with our engineering team and leadership to design, build, and launch products across multiple companies. Your work will move into production quickly and have a direct impact on the business.

This is a full-time, on-site position at our corporate headquarters in The Colony, Texas.

What You'll Do

  • Build modern web applications using AI-assisted development workflows
  • Review, refactor, and improve AI-generated code
  • Develop frontend interfaces and backend services
  • Design scalable and maintainable software solutions
  • Build and integrate REST APIs
  • Containerize applications using Docker
  • Configure and troubleshoot local development environments
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain production applications
  • Work comfortably in Linux and the command line
  • Collaborate directly with leadership on product strategy, architecture, and execution
  • Participate in UI/UX discussions and improve the overall customer experience
  • Continuously evaluate new AI tools and development workflows

  • REST APIs
  • Git and GitHub
  • Systems integration
  • Data processing
  • Docker and containerized development
  • Local development environments
  • Linux and command-line tools
  • Basic cloud deployment
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, or similar platforms is a significant plus.

Design Experience

We believe great software should be intuitive, polished, and enjoyable to use.

You don't need to be a professional designer, but you should understand modern UI/UX principles and know how to use AI tools to create clean, thoughtful user experiences.

Bonus Skills

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Docker Compose
  • Kubernetes
  • Linux administration
  • MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • CI/CD
