Job description
The AES Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Network Support Technician to support enterprise data center and network operations. This is a remote, travel-intensive position requiring frequent visits to data centers and business locations. The selected technician will serve as the onsite "hands and feet" for remote network engineering teams. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to follow technical instructions accurately, and the flexibility to travel to at least three data centers within two weeks. This position is well suited for a self-motivated technician who can work independently, communicate effectively with remote teams, and resolve technical issues in fast-paced enterprise environments., * Provide on-site technical assistance to remote network engineers during troubleshooting, installations, deployments, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Connect, disconnect, replace, and verify network equipment, cables, switches, routers, access points, and related components.
- Access network devices through console connections and perform basic validation under the direction of remote engineering teams.
- Verify physical connectivity, port status, VLAN assignments, device indicators, cable conditions, and network availability.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving switches, routers, wireless access points, PCs, printers, and IoT devices.
- Support wireless network troubleshooting, including signal validation, access-point connectivity, and end-user connection issues.
- Perform equipment reboots, cable tracing, port testing, hardware swaps, and visual inspections when directed.
- Provide onsite hypercare support during network deployments, migrations, upgrades, and post-installation stabilization periods.
- Document completed activities, observed issues, troubleshooting steps, equipment details, and final resolution status.
- Coordinate closely with remote engineers, project managers, site contacts, and technical support teams.
- Escalate unresolved incidents promptly and provide accurate technical information to minimize business disruption.
- Maintain assigned tools, equipment, adapters, cables, and travel documentation.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience providing onsite IT, desktop, data center, or network support.
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments and distributed business locations.
- Strong understanding of network connectivity, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VLANs, switches, routers, and console access.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting PCs, printers, IoT devices, wireless connections, and network-related incidents.
- Ability to use laptops equipped with Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, serial, and console connectivity.
- Experience working as on-site hands-and-feet support for remote network or infrastructure teams.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, change procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, documentation, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited onsite supervision.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including visiting at least three data centers within two weeks.
- Ability to work flexible hours when required for deployments, maintenance windows, or urgent support activities.
