Job description
- Lead hands-on design and implementation of Java- and Spark-based components for the Market Risk platform.
- Architect distributed, scalable, and high-performance computing solutions for risk calculations and analytics.
- Optimize risk data processing pipelines to improve throughput, efficiency, and response time.
- Implement containerized deployments and integrate with modern data platforms, including Snowflake, for cloud processing.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers, risk managers, and global technology counterparts.
- Engage with Risk, Model Governance, and Compliance to align with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute within Agile teams to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery.
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to junior engineers.
Requirements
We are seeking a Senior Java Spark Developer, Lead to join our Market Risk Technology team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java, Apache Spark, Spring Boot, and distributed systems and a proven ability to design, build, and optimize scalable risk analytics platforms that compute VaR, stress testing, and large-scale data processing., * Expert-level Java, including Spring Boot, microservices, OOP, and design patterns.
- Hands-on Apache Spark with Java for large-scale data computation.
- Strong data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design.
- Proven experience building high-scale, performant data platforms in production.
- Knowledge of containerization and cloud-native architecture; experience integrating with Snowflake preferred.
- Experience with caching and data stores such as Pinot and Redis, plus relational and/or document databases.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix and scripting for automation and operations.
- Ability to translate business and analytical requirements into technical solutions and manage multiple initiatives.
- Typically 8+ years in backend engineering with depth in Java and distributed systems.
- Background in financial services, Market Risk, or FinTech.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Agile and DevOps practices, CI/CD, and container orchestration.
- Exposure to market risk analytics such as VaR and stress testing at scale.
