Job description
- Devise or modify procedures to solve technical problems.
- Responsible for system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Lead and direct the work of team members.
- Develop component design and develop system or application architecture.
- Develop maintainable or scalable, effective, defect free source code that meets business requirements and team standards. Identify and implement appropriate continuous improvement opportunities.
- Conduct unit test case development. May mentor junior team members.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 40%., + Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.
- Troubleshoot complex IT issues for new products including modeling refresh launched to handle online and batch specific transactions.
- Lead design reviews, produce clear architectural artifacts, and articulate technical trade offs to both technical and non technical audiences.
- Provide mentorship, support, and guidance to junior engineers through 1-1s and pair programming.
- Build and iterate software prototypes under tight deadlines.
- Both heads down coding time as well as active participation in product design, demonstration, testing and support.
- Experience may be gained during graduate program.
- Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Requirements
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.
